2 templates poker deck or square deck
The template of the custom deck will be 10 cards across and 7 cards down, giving you a total of 69 face cards plus the last one being the hidden card (the card that people see when it's in your hand).
Here's a video I made to help someone who was also trying to make a custom deck. (I talk a lot about the snap function because that was what the original post was about). But you can see how to build your template. Remember, the very last card (bottom right corner) is the hidden card.

There is no need to upscale your images to fit into the template that's provided. In fact, don't use that template at all. Decide on the size of the card you want, and then make sure all your other cards are that exact size. Then open a new image that will be your custom deck and set the correct dimensions, which will be (card width x 10) x (card length x 7) The game will splice it properly. Once again, the total dimensions CANNOT exceed 4096x4096!
Also, a smaller custom deck image will not create smaller cards. I just tried a deck of mine that's 4096x4096, and then loaded up the same deck that's been resized it to 2000x2000. They both loaded as the same card sizes, but the 2000x2000 deck was far worse quality.
Unfortunately the game isn't magic and will not enhance cards that are already low res. Your only option is to deal with the low res card or find better quality cards (or re-scan as higher res, if that's what you've been doing).
Even easier, use this[www.nexusmods.com]. Give it however many card images (up to 69) and one for the hidden card face (in the last slot) and it will generate a full deck image for you.
Edit: After watching the video below, your problem may be using PNG. Use JPG instead, the game likes it better.
I also go over it in my latest Tutorial Video (Custom Content), so be sure to check that out as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQ56RjFqnj4
If so, that's awesome.
The only way I could get my decks to consistently load was to rescale my work to 300x430 (3000x3010). At this point, the cards look horrible in my opinion, and required quite a few layout amd typography changes, but they are legible and should suffice for a prototype of my game. I would certainly like to be able to use higher resolution images going forward, though, as my work is original and I would much rather put my best foot forward with it. If I were simply scanning-in/duplicating a previously existing physical property I wouldn't be as concerned. I hope you understand.
Kimiko, you guys have an amazing product with so much opportunity for people like me to create fresh, new content for, I couldn't possibly complain. I would just ask that if there is any way that a priority can be put on allowing higher resolution imagery to be added, it be given a firm look. I want to release some of the physical games I've been working on, and while your platform is amazing to that end, I don't want to be embarrassed by "fuzzy" cards, when I know that my work is crisp and clear.
Sorry if any of this comes across as anything other than a compliment and a plea to improve content importing for higher-quality work. Thanks all, for your time and support.
