You can always scan your own copies in and upload them somewhere privately for personal use.

(Since you own the games already, of course)

FFG? TTS? BSG? Netrunner?

I want to know so I can decide if it is worth it or not. I would have to consider what else may be removed and what is going to be in the final release...

TTS = Tabletop Simulator. It's not TTS removing those games, it's Steam itself removing them from the workshop - probably because of a cease-and-desist from the copyright holders. The odds are in favor of being able to find them elsewhere on the interbutts but there's no guarantee you'll be able to pick up store-bought games for free... the people who actually sell those games don't like it.

I don't understand why the concept of copyrighted material being removed is confusing (this is in reference to so many of these posts). If your expecting something to be in the final release that's copyrighted and not licensed for TTS to use, you are uninformed and should read a "terms" prompt. TTS isn't here to facilitate piracy but to facilitate game creators creating their own content, in an environment that is user friendly. What I hope in the future is TTS would have contracts with some of these companies to which I would gladly pay a couple of dollars for a digital version of a tabletop game.

What interests me about this is that some of the ones they removed had some basic form of copy protection. For instance, the Arkham Horror mod I made had no text on common item cards, just like they allow in Vassal. However there are other games they left up, which have digital versions already in the Steam Store like Elder Sign.

I don't fault FFG at all. They're their games, they can do what they want with them. I only put up Arkham to play with my friends, and made it public so other people could use it too. If I went through all that work, why not let others benefit? Even with the takedown I can still play with my friends. Also, unless FFG starts policing the workshop weekly, or daily, I'm sure some of the games will still get out, by other users, and people will be able to download and save the games to play later.

em, I'd be willing to bet they just did blanket takedowns without checking for copy protection. I also don't mind, as I also did Lord of the Rings LCG primarily to play with a few distant friends. I'll admit I'm a bit surprised though, since everything I used is available for play on OCTGN. Same with Android: Netrunner and they took that down, though it did have brand new cards whereas OCTGN waits 6 months. Maybe they didn't like that we didn't follow proper channels and ask them, like people on OCTGN and Vassal. Or more likely they saw how much was blatantly on here and nuked it all.

I asked FFG for permission to do a mod for LOTR LCG and for them to give me whichever guidelines if they agree. I was completely turned down. Oh well, it's their product.

We must return to nexusmod to have mods without problem? Or just create a list with direct download links to CJJ files?

Or post them to workshop as much as you want (people will be able to use them in the meantime), and if a mod of yours gets a DMCA notice, accept the company's wishes.

Or not ... I do not make money with this...Why I can't lend my games?

Darleth, it's FFG's products, they obviously don't want them on here.

Uploading the game to the web isn't the same as lending your game to a friend. Board Games are no different from Video Games. When you buy a Board Game/Card Game, you're buying the cardboard, plastic or wood, the board game or card game text or images is printed on, not the game rules, images or the text printed on them, that's copy written by the makers of the game, same way if you buy a Game CD or cartridge, you own the Cartridge or the CD, not the software on the CD or Cartridge. So when you upload your store bought game to the web, you're not lending out your physical game at all, You're sending out the rules of the game, the text and art work, and thats violating the copyright laws. So they have every right to ask for it to be removed or censored in some way.

Except boardgames don't have 'Demo's' like video games do and generally cost alot more. This right here is a huge boon for try-before-you-buy and at the end of the day will help these boargame companies. Everything I've subscribed to so far has been things I've already physically owned anyway.

I've recently noticed Mice and Mystics up there on the Workshop - A game that I've been interested in picking up for months now.
I'll be subscribing to and trialing that for a spell before making my actual physical purchase if I enjoy it.
This is literally only a good thing as far as I can see. Who in their right mind would be happy with some fiddly app as opposed to actually sitting down and having a beer with your mates face to face?

Reminds me of narrow-minded Video game publishers who try to take down Youtube let's plays or whatnot, failing to realise that these actually increase the desire and chances of viewers picking something up and them making a sale..
