Very frustrating, especially since I can't find anything about it online or anything! Any help is much, much appreciated.
1: Delete the "URL Images" folder located under your "My Documents/my games" directory. This forces the save to redownload the images from their source, causing them to appear ingame. I generally do this before I join or create any server with custom cards in it.
2: There's a more convoluted solution (which I admittedly haven't used yet) that involves using a URL Extractor (available on the TTS Nexus) to extract URLs from the save file (generally also available on the TTS Nexus) that the custom cards are from. This does something that makes the cards appear again.
I was hosting and could see the cards fine.
After some troubleshooting, we got the cards to work for all except one member.
He is using a mac, and has tried both natively and through bootcamp.
He's tried being a guest in my game, hosting his own, and even single player.
We've tried multiple different hosting sites, and tried shutting off his firewall.
Still, he repeatedly receives the "Improper URL" error.
If anyone has any other ideas, I'd love to hear them.
Melty_Ninjers - I'll look into your second suggestion tomorrow and let you know how it pans out!
You'll get 30 seconds of lag while the game loads the decks and then it should be smooth sailing from there on out.
Which beats the hell out of waiting 2-10 minutes for decks to load.
One thing I noticed - one of my save files contained hard links to the images in the cache folder, instead of the URLs I specified when setting up the 9 custom decks. Deleting the cache folder just stopped the save working altogether.
I've reported a bug, because I think if you load a game, it caches the images, then (if) you save the game it stores the cache locations instead of the original URLs. When you host a game with this save file, nobody else will be able to see the cards.
The only fix is to never save a game which is in progress, which is kind of a showstopper.
Pretty sure this is exactly what happens, I ran into this the first night while trying to update my Risq mod to a single board. I had to delete all images in the cache folder completely, start a new custom game, and reload all decks, and the board, than Save to a new slot. It seems to have fixed the issue of the game not properly pulling from the URLS for people who download the Mod, according to the users who gave me feedback anyhow.
Im done with this crap
This may sound dumb, and extremely simple, but, have you tried loading the Custom decks that won't work for your bud, while he is in the room? Deleting the deck that won't work all togeather, and import it again while the MP session is going? Maybe you have tried this..I am just trying to think of things..
Well, i know i have had this issue with a few games, but it was very..touch and go. It was during a game of Monopoly, and the guy could not see the property cards. he crashed a few times and came back, he changed his settings to low and he could then see all the cards, however the board went black for him then. (Not the first time i have heard of that happening on Low). Anyhow, they should be working on it, as they know that community mods and support are extremely important for this game.
