Holding ALT when rotating a piece should allow you to rotate it along the other axis.

Hey Spartan, Don't even worry about that! Also in case you didn't know, press the ? key and the key bind menu will come up :)

I would like to see better rotation in the future. To allow any degree of rotation. Then you can make in options menu a rotation snap for personal settings.

Pressing Alt does "Zoom Object" and doesn't let me rotate it on the other Axis. The keyboard map shows "Alt" as "Zoom Object", but also shows it below as the Modifier for a bunch of other things, but trying to use it as a modifier doesn't work, it just triggers "Zoom Object".

EDIT1:
Might help if I add that I'm on Ubuntu using Unity, where the ALT key is used by the Desktop Environment to bring up a search function. I'll double check and see if disabling that helps.

EDIT2:
Nope, no change in the game. While holding an object, pressing Alt just zooms it off the bottom-left of the screen, and no amount of rotating is done by the Q and E buttons. (not that I can see the object, but it isn't changed when I get it back on the table)

Alt should only zoom in on an object if it is currently static. Try picking up the object and keep the left mouse button pressed while doing Alt+Q/E or alternatively Alt+MouseWheel.

I ended up re-mapping it to B and now I can rotate in other directions with Q and E. Tried mapping it back to Alt, and it was the same problems as before, I don't know why.
I'm trying to rotate a blue block onto its small end. How to???
