How many players locally?
The descriptions says 8 players can play on a single board but does that include locally as well as online? Sure would be nice if I could play games with my family using this (something like Monopoly with so many pieces is hard to keep set up when a game takes 2-3 nights).

If you're all playing on the one computer then it's pretty much any game you could 'hot seat', such as chess or even monopoly. Any game that requires a hidden hand (for cards) or similar per player wouldn't really be possible without making it awkward like ensuring people don't look at the screen during your turn.

If using multiple computers then it's still up to 8.

There is an app for iPad called iDisplay that let's you turn your iPAd into a touchscreen monitor (with sound even) it works really well. I used this to do pass n play with smallworld and ticket to ride. Even though those are available on iOS I had them on steam already.

However in games where players can respond when it's not their turn it's still a problem though.

So yeah a local pass n play mode would be a welcome feature.

edit:
I did some looking and the scrabble app for ipad let's you show your hand on your ipod/iphone. That really would be an amazing feature to be able to view your hand and do basic actions from your mobile device.

So a game like Monopoly could technically be played with as many people on the same screen as you want if you had enough pieces/cards/money?

Yes. Tabletop Simulator is just moving pieces around, it doesn't know the difference between one player moving everything and the mouse being passed around.

I see. How does one create an item for the game?

You import cards on sheets. 3D model support is forthcoming.

Currently, you can only create custom cards, but the ability to make custom models is on the way.

Unless you're talking about spawning premade objects in-game, cause there's a menu for that.

How do you make custom cards? Can you import your own images?

You make images of 7x10 sheets of cards, upload them somewhere, and then point TTS to its location. Custom card images is currently an area where this game shines.

You use a template the devs provide you and you lay out a sheet of cards then import them in through the "Spawn Objects" > "Cards" > "Custom Deck"

You can find a tool for easily making a deck of cards over at: http://steamcommunity.com/workshop/discussions/-1/540742485483851013/?appid=286160

Nice! What about custom boards?

Just make them a big card, you can size things up and down in the game with + or - and you can "lock" them with L.

You can also have an image filling the entire table using the new extra-large table

The trouble I found with this is the idea of player hands in any game needing private info. I couldn't find any way to set up more than one player locally, so even though I could put cards in a hand where another player would sit, I couldn't "switch" to that person in order to see them.

I suppose you could put the hand face-down on the table between turns and switch them with the active player's hand. In the end I just bought a second copy and my wife and I play over direct connect. Multiple local players would be welcomed though.

another good reason to implement the ability to drop your hand into a deck!
