Before I get this game..
Can you play with bots? Or create some sort of rules that your bots can follow? Because sometimes, I might want to take a game seriously. Any fun with single player? Or when this game is dead, it really is dead?

Bots? Not yet and, perhaps, not ever. TTS is A.I.-less, and focused on multi-player, though some of the mods (like The Castles of Burgundy) have single-player rules that are available online. Many deck builders (such as Legendary), can also accommodate one player.

Well that sucks, because once this game is dead, it's dead.

And that's different from other games, how? Everything here on Steam is going to have a finite lifespan. I think this one, being so mod-focused, will have a longer lifespan than many.

When I go to the community hub, I see no people playing. Tough luck.

I fixed that for you. A community hub does not contain information on how many people are in the game.

You're forgetting that this game has Direct Connect. It CAN'T die, people'll just play through Tunngle or some other such LAN program.

I'd understand your point of view if it was truly online only, but it does have a direct connect function, so there will always be a way to play it. Unless you're one of those people who can't find RL friends to play over a LAN or a virtual LAN...

What makes this thread A+ is that the complaint OP has over the game's lack of single-player can be used as a complaint toward 98% of board games.

And I guess OP is just oblivious to this or something? Maybe he's being cool and we're being trolled right now???

This is a game you primarily get to play with friends. Looking to play with randoms online is very possible but it is nowhere near as fun.
It's like inviting a couple drifters over to your house and whipping out monoply.

Well, I'm hoping to get gaming with a few "drifters", 'cos it looks like I'm gonna be a drifter myself. None of my "real life" friends are interested in playing boardgames online. Seems like we could get some like-minded people together here and find some good gaming chums. As long as Steam provides a way for people to connect, this game will never die. I hope.

I'm highly considering getting this to play stuff with my family, but I don't want to buy a 4 pack when most of them will rarely play it. Can anyone confirm for me that the following method of play is possible:

Log in on my steam account on each computer, download the game, go into offline mode, and connect and play via LAN?

We used to do this with Obsidian Conflict and Sven Co-op all the time, is it possible with this game?

(And yeah, I realize this could be seen as some kind of piratey copy-sharing whatever thing, but honestly none of them would play it when I wasn't, so if we had to get four copies to play, I wouldn't be buying it at all.)
