Using Tabletop Simulator to project board games onto a real table?
I'd like to project a board game onto a real table for friends to gather around and play on. I like the idea the digital board game and pieces, but I also like to get together with friends. I'd use TTS to project the board, and we'd use real cards and pieces on the grid projected. I'm thinking about games like Zombies!!! and Zombicide where you lay city tiles as the game progresses. I'd only need TTS for the tile placement and that is it. Would this work?

For those that have played TTS, can I rotate the camera for a top down view? Do you think this would be viable?

Maybe an image displayed by a Projector?

Yes, you can rotate to a top down view (I think it's a preset you can activate with a hotkey too). However, isn't just an image of the board sufficient enough?

Thank you for your replies. @Little Strawberry, some games have dynamic boards like Zombicide where you place city tiles per scenario, so there isn't just one board. The built in mechanics for some games rules would be great with TTS for this purpose.

One of the original Kickstarter stretch goals included castAR support to be added in the future. This sounds like it would be more like what you're looking for; having the game's components made out of retro-reflective material would allow the physical aspect. (It's definitely one application that I've been wanting for a while.)
