If there is another solution i would also be interested so i do not always have to host.
Standard port is 11155 but you can change it in the "advanced" options during the "host server" setup if you like.

So i assume you already tried the port-forwarding and it didn't work out? In case you didn't: DO IT!

That is the first best choice to cut down latency.
Also if your router has some sort of QoS (quality of service)/traffic shaping you should give the TTS port priority.
Not that I could help you much if I knew what your connection is but saying "it is pretty good" is subjective and gives no information. What's the download AND ESPECIALLY the upload speed? What is the type of the connection, DSL, cable or even fiber? How far are you and your players geographically apart? What is the ping they having?
There are some physical limits electrical signals can't just overcome. For example if you join an US server from Europe you have to expect at least a ping of 200+, there is not much room for improvement technically. So we need more information to even able analyze your situation (not saying a solution is guaranteed).
