RPG Character sheets and Chat Character limit
Will you ever add anything resembling character sheets to the game? Nobody in my group myself included likes to use the tablet for a sheet, it's just not ergonomic.

Will the chat's character limit ever increase? We find that we constantly have to open up IRC due to how short the character limit is.

Love the tool, if these two issues were ever fixed, it'd pretty much be the only tool I'd ever have to use for running games again.

There are some things you can do to have a character sheet in-game. It will require attaching trays to the table to expand the total surface area available for use, which is a good thing for clearing the table itself up, giving you more room for anything you should require.

1) If you have static information, or there is going to be extremely minimal changes to the sheet during the game, you can upload an image of it. Now, depending on what game they are for, it shouldnt be too difficult to find an interactive character sheet for it, it'll come as a pdf, just enter all the information into it, then convert it to a jpg (there are plenty of tools available for free online to do this), upload the image somewhere like Imgur for example, then just import the image. Most surfaces will re-shape to fit the image.

This is also probably the only thing the devs can do as well due to the sheer volume of games that require character sheets until they implement a way to make interactive pdf's available in-game, which is very unlikely to happen as the tablet performs this function as is, You are best looking for something which changes the model for the tablet, but good luck, I've tried looking and had no luck, these forums, the official forums, Reddit, Google, no joy at all.

2) If you however need to change the information on a regular basis, and its not something that can be easily done with counters for example, use the above step, for the core, then use some notepads from the host chest. Its not fantastic but it works.

3) Use the tablet. I know you are trying to avoid this but really, the above options are your only option besides this.

As for the chat limit, I dont see that being increased because of just how badly chat could be flooded with vast walls of text that'd be harder to monitor for the mods, and the problems it could cause in-game with just a few bad apples could be very...frustrating to say the least.
Generally speaking though, most people have access to a mic these days, laptops for example have had them built-in for years along with the webcam due to manufacturers being able to squeeze more money out of you that way, as well as headsets with attached mics being fairly common.
Now it can be said that it can be hard to hear one person when everyone is talking but if you are playing in a set group, then (hopefully) you'll all be courteous enough to let each other finish talking without trying to interrupt, and if you are consistently playing together, its not as if you have a reason to be shy about talking, people arent going to suddenly change their opinion of you because of your voice so you can just go at it.

While this might not be the answer you are looking for, its what I got and I hope at least one part of it helps.

Hey there,

The devs of TTS tend to take a universal approach when adding features. Adding features that will effect many types of games at once. So features that pertain mainly to tabletop rpgs are a bit lacking. (Fog of war, character sheets, etc).

I've spent some time trying to find a solution to character sheets. There isn't a perfect answer right now.

Custom Google Character Sheet:
This is a character sheet I made using Google Sheets. It is made to fit well with the TTS tablet. It works pretty well, and everybody on the table can see edits and so on. Give it a look, this technique might work for you.

The drawback is that it takes a lot of setup (making the sheet) and preparing copies for each character. Instructions are in the mod description:

Sheet as a custom object for use with vector drawing:
This is a character sheet imported as a custom object. I've used a sizing trick so that when you draw on it with the vector paint tool, the line will be much smaller. Allowing for you to actually write in the fields. The vector paint information will be saved with the savegame or saved to your chest without losing information.

The drawback is that it's not easy to write clearly with the mouse, and the erase tool erases large sections.

If you'd like to use the sizing trick for your own sheets, here's some instructions. Also, feel free to use my model from that mod and just replace the texture.

Good luck.
