Is there a way to change the auto save location?
It keeps saving on my SSD, and I'd prefer it not to. Is there a way to change the auto save location?

Bump. Also is there a way to change the storage chest save location for the same reasons.

You can change the location of your mods folder in the configuration menu, but you cannot change the location of save files/chest saves. The saves are tiny though and even with hundreds of them my folder is only 10 megs.

Thank you for the speedy reply.

The problem I have is that SSDs have a limited amount of writes to them, and when the game constantly saves it deteriates the drive. Is there way to disable autosaves?

You will literally never run out of writes on a SSD even if you 24/7 copied data to and from the drive:

For me it's not an SSD issue but I too would like to change that location, as a Linux user. Currently it sits in my home folder (/home/keller/My\ Games/) and it is created every time I launch Steam. I end up deleting it every time I see it because I have no saved games and I opted to put Mods in the game data folder. I'm actually about ready to uninstall Tabletop Simulator until this gets addressed. Please, allow either arbitrary locations or allow it to be stored in `${XDG_DATA_HOME}/Tabletop\ Simulator/` as per freedesktop.org standards.

I would really like the ability to use a custom save location for this game.

Hey Knil, I would really really love this option. I am on a Mac and this keeps saving into my home folder similar to Linux. Can you please atleast add an unofficial setting for this? Thanks. Cheers from DLP.

The files sit wherever your system Documents folder is located at. Relocate your Documents folder and let the system know where to default to and the game should pick that up properly. Each OS is different so I won't be able to give any tutorials on it but Google should have appropriate directions.

That would screw up literally any game that also relies of the document folder.

So I'm seeing that Tabletop Similator is saving data to

/home/kraftdinner/My Games/Tabletop Simulator

Can you guys change it on Linux to match XDG specification, essentially %AppData% on Linux is usually stored here:

/home/kraftdinner/.local/share

Suchas Terraria:
/home/kraftdinner/.local/share/Terraria

Skullgirls:
/home/kraftdinner/.local/share/Skullgirls

Steam:
/home/kraftdinner/.local/share/Steam

Application Config Files are usually stored here:
/home/kraftdinner/.config

So if you could do that thanks a million - I use my Home folder like my desktop so it sorta bugs me when it has tons of extra stuff. Thanks :)

Chiming in to say that conforming to the standard here would be much appreciated!

Sorry for the necro, but this seems like the place for Linux users to complain about junk in the home directory. I use the terminal for everything but web browsing and gaming. Having a directory in my home directory that won't go away is like having an icon on your desktop that won't go away. Can you sympathise now?

Great game otherwise. It's fun to play with my friends.
