Dice Question: Chance / Probability
Just a real quick question, when you use the "R" key to roll die, does it roll a chance (10% for a D10 for example) AND/OR simulated physics, does it toss the dice in random orientations and use the physics and if the first one is true, while roling one or multiple die, does it calculate the chance for each roll individualy or does it use a probability calculation (Taking previous rolls into consideration)?

A proper answer and not a "I feel like..." would be much appreciated.

I don't know for 100%, but I am really sure it is entirely physics based. After all, you can throw the dice around too and they jump around the table, so I highly doubt there is any calculation going on other than a random orientation and force being picked each time R is pressed. But since single throws are often not that high, I always press R multiple times, feels more random.

If you prefer actual calculation though, there are scripted "dice" on the workshop that just show a number when you press a button. Even with chatbox integration.

All I want to figure out is this:
IF there is a probability calculation, each "R" Press would change a "potentialy" better result to a worse or vice versa.

I've seen the dice blink into a different orientation the moment I pressed R which would imply that the original orientation is independent of the result

I had the same question that the original post and I thought like you but I wasn't sure, and as I'm no native english speaker I had no idea how to search for this particular question in google so I tipped "tabletop simulator press r to roll the dice" and this appeared. Now that I've seen someone thinking like me I'm more confident with my thoughts. Sorry for the long story hahahaaha

It is NOT entirely physics based. Near the beginning of the roll using 'R' (right after the dice pop up from the table), there is a moment where the die's orientation is completely randomized based on RNG, NOT physics. it then continues it's rise and fall, where physics occurs, but there is true randomization in the beginning. https://youtu.be/4fcxmOSy1ew
