What's the best way to roll dice in this game?
Seems like using the Roll function is wonky as heck, sometimes it'll go straight up and back exactly how it was, and others it'll roll nicely... waving the mouse around and letting go also seems weird, unless you get a nice physics roll it also feels wrong for some reason.

So what's the deal? what is best?

Haha the dice landing on the same face is a perfectly valid result from the list of potential random outcomes, but it can be tough to acknowledge a mundane event like this as random due to cognitive bias.

The randomize option uses random number generation on top of the physics event to make sure you get a sufficiently random result no matter your in-game physics options.

I personally use my mouse to roll the dice. its a more natural feeling and the outcome is like in real life. it just feels right to do it like that. alone just by doing it i get sometimes flashbacks on how i played with my family board and cardgames as a child

My recommendation is to select the dice, and spam 'R' key roughly 5-10 times so the dice get flipped around multiple times and gain considerable height. One roll is not nearly enough to actually roll them proper.

And if not wanting to spam the 'R' key, then the pick and shake option is second best.

Superstition will tell you otherwise because humans like random that looks entropic, but just pressing R once is actually plenty sufficient to get a random result.

Spamming R is pretty satisfying, though probably not as much as tossing the die, but it's quick and clean for the most part.
But yes, hitting R once is actually sufficient enough. You can actually see the die flick almost instantly to a random side before it rolls. So even if the die barely moved, it is still randomized.

You can actually test this by pressing R and immediately grabbing the die.

Right okay, thanks. I'll stick with the result for now on even when that happens lol. just reminds me of those sneaky folk who IRL try to drop the die to pretend to roll lol.

There are many other options apart from the standard dice. There are dice rollers that spawn a set amount of dice, throw them in the air like pressing R and then sort and even add the results together. Then once pressing the roll button, new dice will be spawned.

Another option is a non-physical dice roller, i.e. a plain random number generator that either displays on a screen or posts into the chat a number. But I find those very boring... xD

R RAISES THE DICE NOT ROLLS IT.

YES IT DOES ROLL THEM.

If you hover and press R it rolls them.

I was left clicking and then pressing R which only raises them my bad.

You can also right click and left click roll.

I think hovering and pressing R several times is best.

Pressing R once is the best, if you press several time you could arbitrarily stop pressing R when the die is spinning around a gimbal lock, thus affecting the chance of outcome.

I just turn the gravity up to 1, shake, and throw or use a dice tower.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3035095371 i made this scripted dice roller from some other parts around tts
