Is it possible to link a fixed camera view (1st person) to a mobile model?
Hey all,
For roleplay especially I'm looking for a way to repeatedly access a "first person" camera viewpoint that *moves with / is linked to the position and orientation of a chosen asset*.
(e.g. a hero model moving and turning around on the board or in the 3D world).

My workaround: Go myself into 1st person view, set a camera hotkey (Ctrl + #), tell players which camera to access (Shift + #).

Issues: Must be done repeatedly for each position and orientation change. Very time consuming for DM. Not user friendly - average users struggle with camera controls. Moving pieces in 3rd person, switch to 1st person to every time match model viewpoint, the camera facing collisions and obstructions etc, all of which breaks the immersion and gameplay.

TTS allows building great 3D worlds with Unity, but navigating such worlds (viewpoints within an asset construct especially) is not intuitive - I've had many players of all ages and continents comment negatively on this.

The ability to jump between a 3rd person camera and a 1st person camera at different position would be amazing, but I am unable to implement this. Any tips, hidden solutions or suggestions?

This would be a great tool for UI/UX improvement, a veryy expandable creative feature with many uses for a sizable player audience, especially for line-of-sight concepts, dramatic world exploration, player immersion and ease of use.

made a table that uses the numpad keys to bring the view to each players table, main table or resource table. Those Views could be modified if you bind position, yaw and pitch to model. But would be very tricky each time.

maybe look into this mod:

it projects the view of the camera model directly on a screen

fixed positions i figured out script wise, give me a call if you are intressed in those.

That camera mod is probably your best answer, as you can tuck that onto player models, so you can always have any player be able to see from first person. It would in theory even be possible to get first person movement.

I remember having come across a mod that specifically allowed RPG figures to have a FPS view and move around in that too, but I can't find it right now. Will have a look later.

Genius! I mounted your camera assets onto hero and NPC models, it's perfect.
Imagine a sci-fi combat scene, but with operator view of your squad's 1st-person-cams... I urge others to play around with those cameras!

For now, I only ran into minor handling issues, as stacking all those triggers and custom assets onto models using different states (e.g. rocket launcher animation, defensive energy shields, status effects like burning, blood spilling when hit) often interferes with or breaks other stuff. But that's me using duct tape rather than spend extra time... :D

*PS: Big thanks, these cameras are great! Some footage in action:
