Option to remove items from workshop?
I'll probably get shot down for this, but hear me out...

I've made a few board games for the workshop, 1 my own design and 4 from real life games.

2 of them were childhood favourites... there were already versions on the workshop, neither had been updated in 3 years, and they both didn't work due to assets not being found... shouldn't there be an easy option to report/flag workshop items that no longer work? I've lost count how many I've subscribed to, they didn't work, so I've deleted it again... it would be so much easier to see a flag where people have said it's not working

That flag is the comment section. If it is full of people that say it's broken, with no author reply, then most likely it is. I think that is all that's needed. Valve can't be bothered to check if it is still broken or not, and so it would just be a way to spam / troll if you ask me.

Yeah, probably true...

I can one up you on that one. How about the option to share data via peer-to-peer network, so we can put stuff into our mod folder and have it be transferred to the other players? That would prevent the broken asset situation, because we'd have a redundant (safer) storage for mods in our local filesystem, the Tabletop Sim Steam Cloud and possibly the Workshop. That would greatly help the broken mod problem.

Interesting you say that... there was a game that wasn't working the other day, it downloaded about half of the assets but a few were missing.

I used the ones it downloaded to make a new version as it had the cards and board, just not the scenery, and reuploaded it as a new version. I believe that in the past you had to externally host assets? Does Steam Cloud not solve the issue?

You do realise that this would mean you'd have to have your computer running 24/7 and also have a 24/7 internet connection? Which means essentially turning your PC into a server? Whenever the PC is turned off, the files will not be available. Sounds not like a good idea to me.

For private games I don't require my games to be available 24/7. I just need to have it running when I and my friends play. Then my computer can send the files to their systems. That's not exactly a new problem or revolutionary technology. Besides, saved games already take the entire game state and stuff it onto the Steam Storage or local disk. This is a valid fallback for failing mods. Instead of hopelessly searching the workshop, the game should be able to use the files already there on the Steam Storage or local machine and share those with the players.
That would save us a lot of trouble with mods, that are otherwise no longer supported.
