BGA is a terrible website, absolutely awful. Many of their game implementations are fails, their over-moderation and regulation of their user activity, including the reputation and game limits, is absolutely awful. It's a shame there are some decent games on there, a few are even implemented well without tons of bugs and inconsistent UI features.

TTS by comparison is freedom. Too much freedom for some people, as the games are not controlled by coded rule enforcements (except for some fan-made mods in the workshop).

As to whether it is beginner friendly it really depends on what your open to. The interface can be a bit tricky, but there's plenty of help here and in the official discord.

The workshop has thousands of games from every period and country. Birmingham is actually posted a lot in the discord, Concordia was just recently... You would have no problem finding opponents/game teachers if you're into euros.

(and for the record I prefer Yucata.de for turn-based game playing :P)
