TTS Newb Questions
Title says it all. I'm interested in playing a variety of board games that I have in the closet but not a whole lot of people these days to play with (Descent, Too Many Bones, Arkham Horror Card Game, etc).

First - Is there a place with a complete list of games? If so do I need to buy a game again on TTS in order to play it?

Second - What's the best way to go about finding other players. Steam? Discord or other avenue?

Third - I see this and tabletopia is it worth both or which is better. Thanks

1. TTS comes with a few basic games like chess and Go and such. Then there are DLC games that need to be bought seperately. However, the majority of content can be found on the steam workshop. I think most of the ones you mentioned should be there. Steam workshop games are of course completely free. Just subscribe to the mod and depending on your internet speed, a few seconds or a minute later they are in your game.

2. Either steam forums, or if you want to try your luck with random people, you can ask in the global chat ingame. If you are looking for regular play buddies, I think discord or dedicated groups in steam and discord are your best bet.

3. Since I don't have that game, I can't tell you which one is better.

1 - Adding to above reply you can also download save file which will allow you to download specific mod (game) even if it's not available in Steam workshop for whatever reason. People share those on some discords. You can use import / prefetch tools to download assets and make the first launch smoother/with less errors. Both that and using workshop is free, official dlc mods in Steam shop have to be paid for.

2 - There are active discords, just search/ ask around.

Thanks, I'll take a look at all that. I tried some free games on Tabletopia (Set the Watch) in Solo mode just to get a hang of the platform. It was pretty easy to use. Though I imagine this will depend on the game. Set the Watch is fairly straight forward.

try the official TTS discord, there's a few chans there that will set you on the right path.

The steam workshop has all the major games and a lot of more niche ones, too. Some of them are "scripted", meaning they have some degree of AI automation with busywork like keeping track of cards, HP, etc.

I can attest to Arkham Horror LCG, Descent 2e, and Too Many Bones having fantastic mods out there. Just search for them and then sort by "top of all time" or "most subscribed".

And I mostly play solo but the discord is a great place to start. There's a channel for "new players", where someone is sure to respond if you post about the games you want to play, and they'll be patient while you learn the controls of TTS. There's also the main channel, "looking for games". And finally there's "Scheduling games" which is nice if you want to advertise your game and gather players a few hours/days in advance.

That's awesome because I have Descent 2e with the solo variant (fan made, I'm sure you've seen it on BGG)...but setup is a pain unless I can keep it up for more than a day. I'll definitely check that out.

This already sounds more promising than the Tabletopia discord. Thanks again!
