How do I open ''.unity3d '' files?
I am trying to grab some models from the workshop to make some cool skins from them, but 99% of this models (like this one http://cloud-3.steamusercontent.com/ugc/771740119956080926/3ECF1FCC56D55A22B8072DEF43EE478317912F82/) come in this format I cannot find any way to open or make into .obj...

Can someone please explain me how to open this files?

The .unity3d file format is an archive of game resources that is built from within the Unity editor. So it can contain things such as models, textures, materials, sounds, etc. It is built in a way to protect the contents of the archive from being extracted. You won't be able to extract it without resorting to nefarious means.

Perhaps you might have some luck contacting some of the workshop developers with whom you want to modify their assets?

I have heard about a tool being able to open asset bundles and extract their contents, but I know nothing specific about such

I may have strongly worded that. However,it's at least morally wrong to go breaking open something that has a element of protection...

Late bump. I've saved a few .unity3d files that I paid for, made myself, and am allowed to use, via Hero Forge.

I'm wondering how to open them in TTS.

If by that you mean how to make them appear in TTS, then you need to go to components, custom, pull an asset bundle onto the table and then upload your file to the cloud from the folder icon.

If you mean open it as the original poster meant it, see above.

That did it, thanks!

Would love some help on this, I had no trouble loading in my first round of bought HeroForges. But now, when I try to upload the asset bundle, it says it's an unsupported format and the upload window pops back up. But they are unity3d files, I even got in touch with the HeroForge support and they tested the files, so it's clearly on my end. Super appreciate any suggestions!

Are you using the correct version of Unity for TTS? Unity 2019.4.40f1 is the correct version.

I've had issues where the asset bundle didn't get created so I cleared out the AssetBundles folder, after backing it up, and that worked

Is the unity3d file loaded into the Steam cloud? Again I've had problems where the file has been uploaded incorrectly.
