How to build and bring a saved map to the table (DND) ?
I have a table set up exactly the way i want, i have the assets. But how is everyone getting the built maps onto the table? I've tried building on a custom board and everything seems to explode whenever i load it in. I assume everyone is building their maps off their playing table and on a blank table?
I would really like to bring in a whole map as a pre saved asset, rather than building it on the table and having to reload.

you mean like set it as the default table to load? i'm not sure you can do that, the only way I know how to load maps and stuff is to make it, then save it as a game and load the game

So you load a new table for each map change?

I have a default table. thats fine. But i'd like to be able to make things off of it, and then import them onto it when theyre needed

Have you tried saving the map setup on an otherwise blank table and additive-loading that onto your game table?

There is the feature known as additive load. It can be accessed by going to your mod directory in-game and clicking the three dots.
What you want to do to make this work efficiently is create a frame, such as the base custom table, with your player stations around it. Save that separately. Build your map in the centre and save it without the frame. Now you can load the frame and load the map onto it with the additive load.
Also worth investigating is the One world mod that does a similar thing and offers some more features around this process.

Try one world mod. It allows you to make or import maps and layouts, save it to one world hub and then switch between them without having to reload your table.

One World is great, but is really what you want to do if you want to build interactive, multi-map GUIs. In other words, to give players a simulated almost CRPG experience. For my needs and time issues, this is too complicated.

I have my own piecemeal system I use when I GM games.
- Download Flex Table mod, or some variation of it, such as Pigneedle's gigantic flex table.
- Open control panel, it's a white nob sticking out of the table itself.
- You can reskin the table to whatever maps you use. I'll link to a screen shot that I hope demonstrates this. The tiles with maps on the side, those are like my "backups," if I need to load a map again from a long time ago for example. I can just snag the urls from the tiles and paste them into the table control panel, then load the image.
