Better alternative:
Start with sending them to http://www.boardgamegeek.com to see if what they're asking for are actually boardgames.

Are there things like dokapon kingdom and fortune street here...

Neither of the examples are physical boardgames. They are both videogames released for consoles. So how you expect them to be implemented in Tabletop Simulator...:steamfacepalm:

I'd like to know what this game is about. I thought with the workshop you could make all sorts of different things but I'm guess it's just classic board games like backgammon with different rules and you can toss the table when your♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Mentioned in the other thread, my experience with the workshop can change the game completely so for this game I'm completely clueless and thought something way different.

You answered your own question by including a link to the workshop. It is whatever the community creates, which is a lot of things and games.

Plus there's DLC for official high quality renditions from partnerships with game publishers.

i dont know if you are over thinking on it its easy explanation
playing physical board games in digital format
theres no ai, automated, no rule enforcement etc its a sandbox u play as u would in real life. if u want to move the pawn piece move it yourself .

tabletop simulator itself has classics games like soliatire , chinese checkers, chess
the workshop is what u really want since theres countless of phyiscal board games and card games imported by users to play from love letter, arkham horror, gloomhaven etc

It's a simulator for tabletop games.

Think of any physical board game or tabletop style game and it can be recreated in the sandbox that is Tabletop Simulator. Card games, board games, dexterity based games etc.

There is no preprogrammed Ai, that is mod specific and most don't support it. You can play a lot of games solitaire or in a multiplayer environment. You are in control of the rules and the game pieces.

There are endless games created on the workshop, a lot of them are made very well.

Ok maybe I'm working it wrong. I understand the base game itself. So in the workshop, so I'm not sifting thru countless pages of mods are there games like Mario party or fortune street or is it like sandbox as well, just made over traditional board games inside the tabletop app?

I'm looking to play local MP games with my family and if it's just a simulator then that doesn't sound very fun or family oriented.
YourPeepingTom Sep 13, 2018 @ 2:17pm
how is it not family oriented if its a simulator, a simulator is used to simulate something that's physical digitally, theres no difference aside from that. you can just as well play the game with your family members seeing as theres a hot seat mode so your family doesn't even all have to get the game. its NOT just classic games dude, spend like five minutes looking through the first five to ten pages of the most subbed items in the workshop and you'll see classics yeah but theres munchkins, epic spell wars, warhammer, dnd stuff, mysterium, red dragon inn, red flags, pokemon master trainer. lots of stuff you dont have to look far to get
Psyrek Sep 13, 2018 @ 2:17pm
There isn't native support for multiple players playing simultaneously on the same device. You would have to play via a hotseat environment, passing the controls around on each players turn. Or each have a device each running Tabletop Simulator.

You should have an idea of what you want to play if you are searching the workshop. Or you could look via the most popular or subscribed mods to see what the majority finds the most fun to get an idea of what to try.

Ok thanks all. Being sandbox make your own rules isn't what i was looking for I was hoping the workshop would have had things like this and I really wasn't sure.

I'm looking for a games like I mentioned, fortune street or dokapon kingdom. Thank you for clarifying that games like these could not be recreated via the workshop.

Tho cleanup would be better we prefer tradition board games over recreated simulated ones.

No idea how to play those and looking up the rule book and learning the play isn't what I was looking for. And we usually dont play DnD style games. Thank you very much tho. I was greatly over thinking this game lol.

Yeah, it's not video games.

Think of it as an emulator for those boxed games you see in the toy aisles and comic shops.
Where video games came from.

If you're not into games played on a table (and not on the tv, computer or mobile), then you may not be interested in this.
It basically allows for emulating the experience of playing a tabletop board game, card game or RPG (the pen & paper kind, again where the video game RPGs came from).

And, yeah, the RPGs require a bit of reading (or at least understanding the rules), the creation of a character (usually by rolling dice), and most actions are generally done by rolling dice (instead of pressing X to attack).

I'd suggest looking at a youtube playthru to maybe get a better idea.

We enjoy board games and have quite a few in our collection, but in a videogame setting and having to even setup in game sounds tedious and annoying.

Sounds a good idea tho to look up some game play maybe it won't be as bad.

Tabletop Simulator allows for scripting. A lot of the board games have automatic setup scripted in, saving you a lot of time in both setup and cleanup. It can be as simple as clicking a button on the table and 'bam' it starts sorting, shuffling and distributing the components.

Some mods have scripting in place to help automate some of the more tedious things in the games as well.

Being able to save a lengthy game for a later date is a huge help.

But yeah, as suggested, maybe look up a few videos of gameplay on TTS and see if it's something that would be of interest.

I mean given enough time and effort video games can be made in TTS. I did a test of recreating Frogger in TTS with AI controlled frogs and it works quite well (haven't tested in multiplayer to get results, but I bet the desync would be painful). But more complicated games will most likely not be feasable, moreso on a multiplayer environment.

A link to a short clip of it as an example (The recording was muted for your own benefit):

Look on Youtube for hundreds if not thousands of vids of Tabletop Simulator in action.

lol OP is so dumb
"Man setup sounds really boring because I don't have to set up board games in real life so this isn't for me"

People have already made the games for you to download. People have already done the hard parts for you. At this point, I would consider you the laziest person I've ever laid eyes on if you decide against this game "because setup sound annoying". The only setting up you have to do is the pieces of the board - just like in real life.

Not sure what your problem is, but life must be really complicated for you.

Because setup in a video game setting is slower for 5 people than real board games would be, and yes more annoying for being in a sand box. You ever deal out cards or cash in Monopoly or Life? Clicking one card or money and dragging it to a player is indeed slpw and annoying. But I can't expect a child to understand that.
Psyrek Sep 14, 2018 @ 8:16am
TTS has auto dealing mechanics. You don't have to drag it to anyones hand if you don't want to. There is a lot of tools to streamline play.

Even if TTS had same system multiplayer, a lot of games have parts that have to remain hidden from other players which wouldn't work well on a splitscreen scenario. I could see taking turns on the same system with 5 people being slower than sitting around a table though.
