New to TTS, like long-form strategy. Recommend a game?
I want to learn how to use the TTS controls in a 2-4 hour game. I've enjoyed these board games in real life:

Escape from Sunset Island
Settlers of Catan
The Grizzled
Boss Monster
Mage Knight
Seven Wonders
Diplomacy
Space Empires 4x
Race for the Galaxy

I believe these games are called Euro Style, because they have some randomness but it is natural to mitigate the effects that randomness can have on your strategy.

Thanks in advance!

"Eurogames" is the popular term to refer to games that aren't "Ameritrash," though this delineation is falling out of style as genres and mechanics become further melded and new innovations are introduced.

Race for the Galaxy and Mage Knight are perfect examples of high-themed ("Ameritrash") games that blend features of euros; mainly victory point winning conditions and no player elimination as winning conditions (MK sort of, not really).

From the list you provide, I can recommend:
Twilight Imperium - Diplomacy is a heavy factor in this game. This game is the epitomy of Ameritrash. It's long form, to put it lightly. Eclipse is a shorter, streamlined version of it. A great mod exists of TI3.

Lords of Waterdeep - Maybe this is a little too gateway gamey for you, but it's thematic, which you seem to like, and it is a worker placement game, which is a fundamental feature of the eurogame.

As you like the grizzled, which has a more mature theme, you probably would enjoy any variety of eurogames by Stefan Feld (Merlin, his new game, was just posted, and it's great), Rainer Knizia (creator of one of the best board games ever made, Tigris & Euphrates), and other big names. They make mostly grownup games, though Knizia has made over 500 games of every conceivable type. Geeklists on BGG are the place to start looking.

If you like Diplomacy for its alliance/betrayal elements over a long game then you may also like "Republic of Rome" although that game takes abit to get used to. Every player has to scratch other players backs to win elections but not let anyone get to far.

Another game which is similar though less complicated is "Fief: France 1429" which is kind of like a board game version of Crusader Kings without any Ai, complete with wife murder to inherit free stuff.

I have a Discord group just for long form Tabletop games that arent D&D. You can look into it with the link below, im willing to teach any of the more complicated games and play em myself.

Thanks for your help. When I say Euro games, I mean partway between German (no random) and Ameritrash (mostly random). Although I think I used it wrong, now that I've read up on it.
