Tabletop distorting card images
So I wanted to set up a sort of guess who game with MS Paint characters I could do with friends, but the game sort of distorts the (already low resolution) images by getting rid of colors and blending in ways that make no sense. Here's an example of what's happening:

Is there any way I can fix this?
Should I not be using files directly from my computer for some reason? Do I absolutely need to upload them somewhere?

When you import the object, click the folder icon next to the line where you paste the URL of the image. This will open up a menu that will let you browse your files and use the one you want directly from your computer.

This will follow with a prompt saying whether you want to use the local version or upload the image to steam cloud. Choose the option to upload it to steam cloud and you will be able to use this object in multiplayer servers.

The way you worded it sounded like you thought uploading was the only way. Regardless, what custom object are you using to import with the image in it?

Try resizing it slightly so that the width and height are both even numbers.

Welcome to the world of compression (where everything makes perfect sense if you understand it). Wether local or hosted elsewhere should not have any impact what so ever, other than local textures not being visible for other players.

The compression will be a lot less noticable with higher resolution textures. Since you're using pixel art you can easily bump up the resolution with i.e the nearest neighbour algorithm. For Pixel/Vector art you can also probably export it as lossless as that will probably result in a smaller filesize than lossy for this type of art.

Yeah, you'll definitely need to bump up the resolution of your images if at all possible. Images loaded into Tabletop Simulator will always be somewhat reduced in quality from the source, which will only be pronounced further when using low-res assets.

I *think* if you turn off threaded loading, this quality reduction doesn't happen, but it won't work with images that have already been loaded and turning it off makes loading a much less smooth process.

I tripled the resolution and now only a few things seem out of place, but that'll probably be good enough. Thanks for help
