That Playtable thing is interesting, but it's much too small for the games that I'd be playing. Right now I can hook my computer up to my television for a 42" screen for the larger games, so everyone can see everything. With that I'd be stuck with a very small surface.
We built a large 65 inch touch table and this is our biggest wish for TTS. Our table supports 80 simultaneous touches, plenty for 8 or more players to sit around a single display and play a game.
However currently TTS is only setup for a single user/player per display (non-hotseat). With the addition of the new (Top-down) view option TTS can actually be a true "Table Top Simulator", but it needs to allow for true multi-user/multi-touch on a single display.
Please make TTS true multi-user/multi-touch on a single display so all my friends and I can sit around our table and all play together.

However like both Jeremiah and Netprogeny pointed out TTS needs to support some of the functions the other system shows in order for TTS to reach it's true potential in the touch table format.
I don't see any reason why TTS couldn't do most of the things the other system displayed and likely TTS could do them better.
A great start would be multi-user single display support in TTS for sure.
On the other hand, tts is a great game. I wouldnt consider myself a gamer(had only 300-400 hours total on steam). After I found out about tts, I know that I love board games. Thanks for that.
I agree with others, to fullfil it's real potential, tts needs to upgrade their multiplayer gaming. I don't think it's a good idea to have multiple screens(or streaming), but instead, main screen plus mobile phones. Now this is an idea that would make tts superior to all.(no offense) By phones what I mean is, playing the game and being able to assign colours to mobile phone apps in the same network. So, they can use their screen as personal mouse and see their hand on their screen while others can't see.
My setup I am working on is a frosted glass desk with a projector and a mirror (for large image close up) and a Kinect V1 for the touch interface. I just need a mobile app that can be used for individual hands.
It seems like such a clear addition to any newcomer of the game. I mean COME ON
How about because it could completley shaft games publishers for one.
Currently a lot of infringing workshop content gets a pass as it does not directly compete with the real world version of these games.
If every one's together in the same Room TTS is currently a poor choice and your more likley to go out and buy the boxed game for your games evening. If your games group is dispersed or can't sit down together regularly. Then buying the Boxed game is not really going to help and is way less likely to happen.
So In this situation TTS gets you playing and invested with a game you would normally have no reason to pick up, and maybe even encourages someone to go out and buy the thing for real just for those times when every one can meet up... Thats a win for everyone involved.
Getting the publishers of all these great games to sit up and start seeing TTS as direct competition (with some of these changes being proposed) Is going to have a negative impact you'll be heading down the road to a considerably harder nosed approach to the way they all currently deal with copyright infringement within the workshop.
Putting my business head on. If I published a popular game and TTS changed its function in this manner I'd hammer every workshop Mod of it with Takedown notices, untill every one got the message. Take away the benifits of TTS to the publishers and the Publishers will surely do what they can to take the content away from the Workshop.
It is a great concept, so don't get me wrong in that regard. But you really need to exame the damage something like this could potentially cause the community at large.
... you make a very good point... and that's annoying.
And it is a shame that that has to remove this possibility, but the game not existing would suck more i suppose :)
Finally, is there anywhere that the devs specifically communicate with the community? just couldn't find where people were talking about development. Or don't they do that much anymore?
They've actually repeatedly asked that people request features on either the official forums or the subreddit. You can find several instances that either Kimiko or Knil have mentioned it, like in this thread:
P.S.
If you want to know just to try to bug them to implement a controversial feature like this, however, be aware that they're under no obligation to entertain the idea...or even respond to it. There's a big difference between being uncommunicative and not replying to every idea that everyone brings up.
we would need at least 10 of them to play the board games we play
sure as an additional feature something like tablet mode would be nice
but in my opinion way too limited to be the main attraction
