2. What makes you think it is associated with the game if you do not even own it?
2) In the file is often script for installing some other software like DirectX, MS Visual C++ etc. But sometimes is there some script for installing other software. Once I found on Steam a game which installed some weird anticheat and I just want to know, what will be installed on my PC if I buy this game.
But it is possible that there is no installscript.vdf in the main directory.
I'm just careful, but if I don't own the game, I can't look what is in the script :)
But that's for windows, not idea about other platforms.
If you are actually worried, you can always install the game and check its install directory for the script before you launch it for the first time.
Those install scripts are only ran once you launch the game the first time, not when you install the game.
If you delete them before launching the game, they won't install anything.
