I can't be 100% certain because we only have few story elements so far, but the Commoners aren't communists. They're allied, and fight with, the bourgeoisie against a corrupted regime. That's... basically the exact opposite of what communism is about IRL.

Also, rats are pretty cool animals. Don't scorn them !

A variety of viewpoints are represented in the commanders, each of which is a rat:

Archimedes believes in the selection of animals for food via a lottery.

Bellafide believes in the selection of animals for food via whomever is the strongest or has the most wealth.

The green commander believes in the restoration of order no matter what the cost--the issue of who is and isn't food is immaterial until order is restored. I think. Maybe.

The red commander believes that the descision should be up to popular vote. I think. Maybe.

I wouldn't read too much into that each leader being a rat.

Then again, there are some references to rats in Monaco, so maybe it's something particularly symbolic to one or more of the devs. IDK.

At first I thought the game was about the moral conundrum of eating each other, but apparently no one is advocating against that. They just can't reach an agreement over who they're going to eat. Dodged a bullet there ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Guess I'll side with the KSR then. Would be a shame to spoil all that good soon-to-be meat due to an unruly mob with no respects for legitimate authority /s

which animal should represent free market then? I'm sure you like to be a tool and earn a fracture of what your boss is making.

This.... probably isn't the place for ideological debates, and definitely isn't the place for ideological debates that start with one person insulting the other.

Please treat others with courtesy, even if you don't like what they think.

Capitalist pigs !

In-lore, pigs are the animals everyone eats. The pigs eat the wheat, the other animals eat the pigs... because to eat wheat is uncivilized, barbaric.

paying my workers in fractures if they get the labor union involved is pretty rad tbh, try it out

This world is a charming place to live in. Where's the "nuke them all!" button ?

I quess this gives an answer to WTH was GOG.com's description of the game as "a grimly satirical RTS about organized animal cruelty" supposed to mean. Kind of dissappointing TBH to strip an issue like that into a lame aesthetic.

It's hard to tell what's going on because the campaign is not yet released.

I think it's a it early to say which themes will and won't be covered in the story. At this point only the devs know.
