It sounds like a rubbish made game regardless. XD
Think I will just fulfill my nostalgia with Ducktales Remastered instead as that is a fine reboot.
how you ♥♥♥♥ up an 8-bit game is beyond me. Espoecially since ti is such easy money to push it out and much less work than most anything else.
now i bought it in the holiday sale. next days i look into it. im coming back.
xbox controls in the reboot are unresponsive. what i mean, sometimes the game doesnt register the direction (dpad & stick). qbert just stands still, then you need to hit the direction again. failrate is like 15%. but such a game needs perfect controls. no problems with xbox controller in the original part.
there are some minor bugs in the reboot version but it really dont matter. but the xbox controls should be adressed.
what i dont like is spawn flicker. if qbert is dead he spawns and flickers. the flicker effect is uncool, annoying. qbert should be more visible so the player can be fast right from the start. maybe use a color or border around him after spawn.
Think I'll wait a little bit then and hope they figure out the XBox controller issues more. Really don't want to have to play this on a keyboard, or with a mouse. Totally a joystick game.
i played it 3 hours until now. even with this controller behaviour.

but i beg to differ at the core. i like the reboot version.
recent updates changed a few things, like there are more skin models.
Hey, could you upload a YouTube video of the gameplay? Even if it's just a minute long or so. No pressure though, if you can't make one, that's cool. I'm just asking because I really want to play Q-Bert but am very unsure about this port because of the mixed reviews.
you also need PAC-MAN Championship DX with all addons. i guess you already own it as a retro fan :>
I've been playing it mostly with a 360 controller. The mouse controls seem to work fine, but for a game like this I really prefer a controller. The menus aren't the greatest with a controller, and Q*Bert Reloaded, as others have mentioned has somewhat unresponsive controls. I've found that it's a bit better when I stick to the dpad and really firmly mash the direction I want Q*Bert to head in. Q*Bert Classic feels much better and offers a nice challenge.
For the most pat it's a pretty competent game. If the devs fix the unresponsive controls and make menu navigation with controllers smoother I think this would be a great game. As it is though, if you have nostalgia for Q*Bert I think it's still worthwhile.
From what I've read of the earlier comments and reviews, it does sound like they've patched it up quite a bit since release; here's hoping they get the rest of the issues worked out...
HAHA...this makes me laugh because it makes me think of playing old NES games with someone that doesn't ever play games such as my mother. They don't have the instinct yet that you don't have to swing your arms to jump, or that you don't have to press buttons for dear life to make the characters on screen do something. XD
This seems annoying as hell. Honestly the comments about the gamepad not working that well is the thing that made me not buy it since I want to play with a stick like the Arcade using a stick.
BTW...Ducktales Remastered is pretty awesome.
