This is making the achievements for pairing off specific types very difficult to even attempt. Geeky, glam, vintage, chic, and practical types just don't seem to show up anymore. On 2nd playthrough, and have all locations unlocked.
Please don't get me wrong - I enjoy the game a lot and am not trying to be critical, but this seems like an oversight. Having more randoms would go a long way to ensure a good mix of personalities.
Because actually KP`M is one of the most perfectly fun games out there .
I have hardly anything at all to point at - and though some parts could become better, like maybe one extra random now and then - (not a bad idea at all !
@abenlen - Of course playing computer games is a very practical hobby
And artistic . And edgy. Intelligent ! And - all the rest ! Something for every personality out there
Basically between each date we look at the population of the black book and attempt to balance it out by removing the least used characters and replacing them with characters of types that aren't represented.
We do this by looking at type, gender, and gender preference, with the goal of having as much variety of types as possible with about three quarters heterosexuals and a quarter homosexuals, with a 50/50 gender split.
Then what happens is that whenever a new client enters the lobby, we check the black book and the new client is generated to match at least one of the candidates in the black book.
Now whenever we add a character we always check the online database to see if there are suitable avatars to fit the description we are looking for. E.g. if we have a shortage of gay female Hippies (provided Hippies are unlocked) then we go to the database to see if there is a suitable avatar, and if there is we pull that into the game. If there isnt one then we just generate one procedurally. The reason we are preferential to avatars is so that we generate dating data for peoples letters about their dream date.
So therefore, the majority avatar types have absolutely no bearing on the percentages of the various types in your game as the game decides what types are in your game regardless of the population of the database.
It's actually more to do with the order you unlock the various types in, as once a type is unlocked it can take a few dates to rebalance the population of your black book to inject the new types.
So we're not saying that there will never be an unbalance in your game, but the system will correct itself over the course of the game to make sure you see all sorts of characters.
Quick question, does this also apply for the very special client one gets at level 20? Will there always be an ideal match in the black book when they show up? I'm not at all sure that this UberVIP client is procedural generated.
