\Users\<Your Username>\AppData\LocalLow\Magic Notion
The AppData folder may be hidden, but you can access it by typing its name directly on the explorer address bar, or enabling showing hidden folder on Windows.
It looks like the local save data of the game, since the remote ones keeps on the default Steam folder:
\<Your Steam Directory>\userdata\<Your User ID>\285740
Being 285740 the Kitty's App ID.
I don't know if refreshing the local ones would fix the problem, but it worths the shot.
Please try restarting steam with your friends account logged in. If it pulls down your save file again instead of theirs, unfortunately I think their date might be lost.
Save files are stored both locally on your computer, and in the cloud.
They are connected to the steam profile you have logged in with on the machine at the time.
If steam is not running in the background, then the local save file will be used.
Using 2 steam logins on the same machine might have confused steam into uploading your local save data up to your friends steam cloud save.
