Location map in lobby?

Is there any purpose for the location map in the lobby?

It seems like all it's good for is to see the locations/types I've unlocked so far. I *think* it might be nifty if I could choose a location for candidates for the current client, but I'm not sure. (And from looking at another discussion it seems like you try to match types, anyway.)
