AI?!
It's a real shame that you're going to use AI for this game. You're clearly a good artist, so I don't see why you would do that.

If you decide to not use the AI art I will still buy the game, but I can't justify the purchase if it supports AI art. Sorry.

Edit and Update:
Chowbie decided not to use AI art and it shows in how good it all looks, and yes I bought the game. I think it was worth it.

Better Ai art style games, than games from Naughty Dog.
it's okay, once AI has scraped the final product , you'll be able to ask gemini for "nunholy pr0n" and you won't have to pay for another "prompt engineer"s masterpieces.

Whats wrong with using AI art? Stop being like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, accept new world, or go in caves then. Why people hate everything that resambles electr... music, cars arts, are u really want to live in caves? If so stop using smartphones, PC and etc.
Ehm, no, ♥♥♥♥ your "new world". All currently existing gAI models are built on stolen data and cannot function without it. The servers pouring out the slop are wasting metric ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of energy and water that could be used for something more useful. Finally, it just looks plain bad and boring for anyone with a working pair of eyes.

I'm not sure why but it's strange that in the last year AI art has become extremely generic.

The reason is quite simple, inbreeding. AI using AI arts on it's learning process, and since there are an absurd amount of AI slop being created they start to become far too similar.

A process also know as "Garbage in, garbage out"

For what it's worth the Dev mentioned on his twitter that AI was used in the beginning, but the final product has outsourced art, which I assume means he hired an actual artist

So tired of AI slop everywhere.
If the developer really got rid of all the AI-generated assets, then cudos to dev, it was the right decision and I will probably buy the game when it's released.

Personally, I will never buy a game with AI assets, even if it means I'll only play my backlog for the rest of my life.

If you have not paid for the art in your game, you are not entitled to be paid for your game.
I'm pretty sure the church in the intro cinematic was made with AI. Why isn't there an AI disclaimer?

The overall castle is of doo-doo quality, it's pixelated and was definitely stretched to fill the whole picture; the towers of the castle aren't symmetric, they have weird windows placement and the light inside of them is just too much of a random mess to be drawn by a human being; the mosaic glass is just a joke, it has random spots all over it, the AI wasn't able to make a star in the upper part so it has a random black bar in the left bottom cone, the lower left cross is distinct whilst the lower right one isn't; come on, you can literally get cut up by the sharp edges that are the result of sloppy cutting in Photoshop.

It uses a sh:papyruswacky:t-ton of AI generated content and the dev blatantly lies about it not being true.
You can see the grey aura around items as a result of sloppy cutting, and items being of completely different art styles. The most pathetic is the example of "Iron Stake" item which literally is a wooden chair leg, dude didn't even care to at least generate another picture.
Reminds me of flash games made with the use of completely random stock photos. Hooray, the future of gaming is here.

Didn't even notice it, that is so bad lmao.
Normally I can understand using AI when the dev is too broke to hire an artist and can't draw at all themselves. But like, dev clearly can do art so I don't see an excuse here. The castle in that ♥♥♥ is dark either way, not much detail, so even without much experience in that field I don't think it would pose an issue to idk even just trace it and touch it up manually a bit so it doesn't look awful.

complaining about ai relying on stealing in a game that has stolen its gameplay concept from Hades

Actually yeah, AI art is simply dreadful. I've long observed and researched this topic. I'm not sure why but it's strange that in the last year AI art has become extremely generic. So many games that don't admit they use it get caught out... if AI was so good it wouldn't be obvious. We simply would never know.

As a dev myself it just makes no sense to me. Crafting an original art style is crucial. Look at games like Hades, that has a bunch of clones now, none of them will have the success Hades has achieved. What helps? Originality. Focusing on creating a well-crafted, high quality game.

Whenever I see AI art in a game (none of the games I play have it, but I browse Steam often) I just get a feeling they haven't really tried. They've cut corners. They think so little of their own unique art direction they've otherwise achieved for their endevour that they're willing to, essentially, photocopy some other devs work.

I dunno. The way I see game development is... would you rather be the one making Hades, or making a clone of Hades?

To paraphrase something my wife just said... why should I be bothered playing something you couldn't be bothered making?

Agreed man, it s not just that AI Art is displeasing to the eye, it s also the fact that when you make a game the elements of the game are connected between them, creating an aesthetic, themes and visual direction that hugely impact the vibe and feeling that the game gives. It s a bit difficult to explain but if all the inventory weapons and items were drawn in the same style as the characters they would look noticeably more alluring since they would serve a strong visual contrast to the game s environment. It feels boring staring at some bland grey and gold metal crosses and objects, but I don t really mind since they don t affect the gameplay. But one thing I know is that if the items were embracing the color palette of the Gothic and elegant aristocrat-ish characters and had 2 D shades and depth to them they would be a pleasure to collect and look at to the point where you wish you had an collected item gallery just so you can see them, like dead cells has for it s pixelated weapons.
is the Developer and Publisher (Chowbie) an Artist anyway. I follow them on Pixiv and none of their works use an AI tag
