We have Hades at home... with boobies. Nunholy is so similar to it in some design decisions that I am surprised it did not cause some sort of backlash. And I'm glad it did not. "Imitiation is the sincerest form of flattery" and all that.

Compared to Hades, this game looks inferior in many aspects: it is shorter, less varied, the story and dialogues are both vestigial at best; it becomes repetitive sooner. But it's not fair to compare it so directly because it is made by a tiny dev outfit... a single guy in fact, IIRC. From that perspective it's just fine, especially with the reasonable price.

The character is sluggish and underpowered when you first play, which is likely to cause an unjustly negative first impression. The gameplay does feel better once you start upgrading. And once even half-upgraded or so, the game becomes ridiculously easy. There is no "prestige" system to make runs increasingly harder, so if you want dififculty, the only option is to hold back on upgrades I suppose.

There are three characters, each with a set of distinct weapons or skills, but when a new game is createad, one of those has to be picked and then only that one is available for that playthrough. It seems like a major design flaw, since once I finished the game once, I had no desire to play through the same story again. Also there is a screen to choose play mode, but right now only a default, "Classic" mode is available. Perhaps more will be added in the future.
