There is no offline mode, you play in a shared world where you will encounter other players.

Pvp is only active if you choose to flag yourselfe for open world pvp or if you join dedicated pvp activities.

If its a question then nope.
There are events that require party of 2+. Plus its built over some interactions with other players so...
Just skip\ignore MMO tag if u dont like MMO stuff (xept maybe SWTOR since its "singleplayer" mostly).

There being no single player is the sole reason I will never buy this game. I'm not gonna pay for a game that I can only play when other people want to play too.
I played this game solo, great. 1200 hrs in. I only join pve with other players to get stuff, its fun. You can go your own way. Give it a try.

I mean much of the content is solo friendly. It's more like how Diablo 4 works. Solo content but always online with other players passing by.

Right, guys (above); there IS singleplayer in this game. I've been doing it for over 800 hours so far. It's both fun and a terrible grind. There is very little in the way of an overarching pirate story singleplayers are involved in, but a story wouldn't help player v. player multiplayer battling gameplay anyway.

I only SEE the 'live' players that have elected to not shoot me all to hell, or have me try to shoot them all to hell. But on the entire map - somewhere - you could see another 39 ships w/their captains in real time. You can't shoot them, but you can team up with them to take down boss ships and convoys.

Unless you go for some bosses at Mythic-difficulty and Oosten.

only "forced" pvp is over taking manufactories when building your empire, but there are ways around it , there are solo pve versions that come up less frequently and ways to buy them without competing also a shorthand has developed (at least in EU west) the first person to join generally gets it its extremely rare for me to see anyone actually contest it.
I'm also looking at Skull and Bones, simply because I like "vehicle survival" games. It's the steepest discount I've ever seen it at. I would be fine with treating it as a "pseudo-MMO" just like I did Diablo 4 or Runescape 3, where I regularly see other players but mostly go about my business. As somone who IS willing to purchase cosmetics if I like a game, is the Deluxe / Ultimate edition worth it, or should I just find a set I like in the shop and buy it A La Carte?
