Is it worth grinding black market stuff?

I'm 27 hours in and I've been unlocking the map, I haven't really touched the main story yet. My ship is a level 5 hull but with all the equipment on board, it's a level 9.

I've just unlocked the black market and started earning pieces of 8. Is it worth grinding the smuggling missions to unlock anything here? The time-limited stuff looks OK but it rotates out I'm 11 days and I won't be able to grind enough currency to buy anything from there before the store rotates.

All of the regular equipment looks worse than what I already have on my ship. Is it worth investing time into this, or will I find better end-game guns and equipment as I go through the story?

You are only unlocking/purchasing sidegrades or specific playstyles. Those unlocks aren't really better, just different effects and such, though some ships like the Garuda seem to work very well with electric weapons.

But you should still do the story, as it rewards unique cosmetics and blueprints.

Thanks, I'll ignore it for now. I think I'm probably under-level for it anyway, I just tried a delivery to a roving ship in the southern basin region, I had so many enemy ships chasing me I didn't have enough DPS or healing to get rid of them and it seemed like they could draw in constant reinforcements. It felt like the game was saying 'please ignore this pursuit for now'.

You want to snag high level stuff with po8, or ship blueprint

Blueprints like fire bombard or basilisk is kinda underwhelming, especially when you can get it easily in convoy

If you want i can hand you some stuff so you can hit 11-12
