Never got to choose character

This is a deal-breaker; never given the option to choose a character/face and now I can't start a new game. 100% refund if there is no fix for this stupidity.

as far as i know you can change that at the same place you change your characters outfit as well and unlike the outfit you can do that change without having to progress in the main quest first.

you need to reach the main hub saint anne first though.

IF they have not changed the beginning since the official launch on ubisoft connect a few months ago then chances are high that you accidentally clicked through/skipped the character creation

You can change your character at any time at the Atelier in St Anne.

You choose your appearance once you get to the starter island / hub. It's part of the introduction quests.
