I do enjoy just sailing around blasting ships raiding ports and having the crew sing shanties but the rest of the game is a bit off putting, the matchmaking que, constant lag and disconnects, janky land controls and bodgy crafting system give me no frills so I get a little board and frustrated kinda quick each play.
If ya gunna buy it, buy it on sail.. err.... sale, and there is a demo out there to have a rub over.

Test, and decide if continuing the 6 hour is worth your money
-This game is practically early access: Lacking of content and bugfest. However, it will be kept worked on just like NMS did (and due deal with Singapurean Gov)
-It's geared toward for casuals with options for hard content, but unlike most pirate games like PotBS or Naval Action, you only lose inventory in your cargo hold if you get sunk twice in a row without picking it (and somehow pick another thing). You don't lose your ship, equipment, and ammo upon death. You may need to "repair" but the fee is dirt cheap, maybe like 3 ship kills? You also can equip and unequip stuff freely unlike PotBS
-More fantasy than realistic. The game focuses on the fun (which sometimes is not, frankly) instead of trying to make it feels real. You see dragons, oversized crocodiles, and giant shark as bosses as well as enemies that can spew poison, homing torpedoes, or oneshot you, or teleport on will (look at ghost ship). Coop is fun though.
-Optimized networking: Probably one of very few games that... Actually have minimal lag when playing with someone overseas. If you are from Asian and you are joining someone in America, chance are you will not feel the game lags, or even if you do, it feels like you are just having 100-200ms delay which is, basically nothing. No teleporting, no crazy stuff.
-Needs SSD, or the loading time will be painful
-Microtrans is cosmetic only, so no p2w, neither locked content behind "DLC" except for the useless missions for "cosmetic" when buying the higher edition in the first place.
-Performance is pretty ok unless you are using a potato. even 1060 3gb would do fine.
Test the trial out, and see the game's worth by urself, to continue the 6 hours or not.
I do so almost with all Ubi games - and it were always the right decision
1. The cannons do NOT feel satisfying to shoot. barely feels like a broadside.
2. Combat is far too fast and you turn faster than tokyo drifting
3. Your ship has....stamina? I'm not even sure if there was wind, if there was it doesn't impact your ship much.
4. SUPER weirdly, the sea shanties more like they come from a radio, instead of your crew. Which I thought was insanely offputting.
5. We already knew this, but boarding is just an automatic win. Still extremely disappointing.
Overall, this game feels more like a different game with a pirate skin over it. Instead of a pirate naval game itself. Some people may still like it, and more power to them. But I've gotta say, this is probably on the bottom of the list for pirate naval games for me.
You're just as clueless here as to the rest of the game. The ship doesn't have stamina. You crew works to the limit of their physical abilities to make your ship go top speed, the stamina bar is for them, they're the ones who have stamina. That's why you have food to improve it.
There's wind in the game and it does its job, so much that some people complain about how annoying it is all the time.
Did you even play the game?
Yes, I did play the game. Albeit not much, as I quickly learned it wasn't for me.
As for the cannons, the tutorial ship which was a bigger one, and the first couple of ships you get. Its more to do with the fact that you don't broadside, you shoot 1 cannon at a time, which is a terrible decision imo. Also, why is there recoil when shooting the cannons? Again, this feels more like a skin for a game.
Also, going straight on a ship doesn't tired your crew out once the rigging is in place lol. Hell, the sails don't even move besides up and down (And sometimes not even that depending on the ship).
You have to realize that not everyone is going to have your "Worth it at full price" opinion. As someone who loves naval games, especially pirate based ones. This one is hot garbage imo.
depends on what op seeks. If he asking that he want to play with his friend, blackflag is the last game he want to consider.
Just ignore whatever ppl says, and try it out for 6 hours. Then you decide with your own money. Some people says it's worth it, some people says that it's worth full price, and some people say it's not even worth a third of their money. Depends on how you value it. Don't let other's judgement clouds you.
