You can do a lot of things from mow all grass to custom ride parts. You can speed up slow down time make all rides new again. Slow down/ speed up rides.
Hope I helped even though I'm late.
Rides are literally abandoned after around the 15 year mark. 100% abandonment is hardly realistic, even rides older than that in reality still have a good turnout if properly maintained.
Besides, a true rollercoaster tycoon doesn't cheat to beat the missions and replaces his rides.
You could try saving a ride as a track design and then replace it if there are no underground tunnels involved ^w^
