RCT 1 vs 2

I played a lot of RCT1 as a kid and loved the heck out of it. Never played 2 though.
What do you all think, comparing the two?

Rollercoaster tycoon 2 is the best. in my eyes.

2 is better just because its more or less 1 but has loads more content and i remember you could play all the RCT1 maps in 2 anyway

RCT2 Pros

• More shops, scenery, rides, etc
  
• Track editor
  
• Scenario editor
  
• Otherwise it's pretty much RCT as far as I remember.

RCT2 Cons (I haven't played in so long, so these might not be accurate.)

• I never liked the scenarios of RCT2. You can download RCT scenarios as RCT2 parks and play them, though.
  
• I don't know if RCT had this, but in RCT2 you're limited to the number of different rides available for research in a given park. There is still a lot of breadth, but in the scenario editor you only get to pick a certain number.

Additionally you can't charge for both park entrance and rides, which is more realistic, but some people might not like it. When I was playing this as a kid I didn't like it because it meant less money, but now I would be okay with it.

The scenarios in 2 suck, don't even bother with them. Which is a shame, because a lot of them are well-designed. However, the scenario editor can make them much more playable. If you load the predesigned scenarios into the editor, you can change anything you want about them.

I liked RCT 1 scenarios more but, once you played the 2 with all the better points (tracks edition with decors, scenario editor, a lot more of tracks, scenarios, ...), if you go back to the 1 it feels a little limited.

2 had more to it but the zoom always bothered me. Thought it was perfect in 1 but 2 seems to be further away for the closest zoom. Both are well worth it though. Liked the levels better in 1 but 2 has a lot more. Buy both and 3 on sale!

Thats because you run rct2 at a higher resolution.

RCT2 is better at some points, but badder at other, IMO.

Here is RCT2 better than RCT1:
- More shops, coasters, scenarios etc.
- More free hands - you can now free elevate things above or below earth
- Map editor

Here is RCT1 better than RCT2:
- THIS IS MY MAIN POINT. In RCT2, all the parks are "completed" from the beginning. You can't complete a map, and move on to new maps, like you could in RCT1. In RCT2, all the maps are unlocked from the beginning, so you can't make progress through the game.
- The scenarios was much better in RCT1. The RCT2 scenarios (non-real-parks) was quite poor, and seems more like a mediocore community-maps.

My recommendation: Get both RCT games!
