Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 Won't Open
I'm on Windows 10 and whenever I try to open the Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 the game will not even open and I've tried everything Steam told me, I deleted the App Cache, I ran it as administrator and I even flushed Steam. If anyone can help or add in any input it would be massivley appreciated.

There is actually a guide for that in both English and French. Go to the Guides section and scroll down if necessary.

Ok I checked the guide and it still didn't fix my problem, my problem is when I open the game nothing will happen, nothing at all not even a window will pop up giving me an error message. But i did try to open it as a Administrator and now it says "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000022). Click OK to close the application.

I have the same issue. I hit the Play button within the Library of steam and nothing happens. It says running then it disappears and nothing happens. I have done all of the steps as well but no luck...

I fixed my problem it ended up being I didn't have some applicatin that was Direct X Auto Play or something with a name similar to that. just mess around wth the Windows Troubleshoot feature and you'll firgure it out that's what I did.

Try running it in Compatability Mode. It's been starting fine for me running in the XP/SP3 mode.

I tend to have problems when I try to open up the graphics setting to change out of the 800x600 mode. Anyone have any info?

THIS MIGHT WORK: Go to your Steam LIBRARY and right click on your Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 game. Go to PROPERTIES located at the bottom of the box that pops up.Then go to LOCAL FILES at the top of the next window that pops up. Then go to BROWSE LOCAL FILES. Then look for RCT2, it should have the Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 game picture next to it. Double click that and it should work.

I personally recommend minimizing all other things you have open exept the box that contains RCT2. Right click on RCT2 and CREATE SHORTCUT. Click and drag that shortcut onto your desktop background and have that be your new way to acess the game. That way you won't have to go to Library, Properties, and Browse local files every time you want to play it.

My problem I had with "Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 Triple Thrill Pack" was that it would say "unable to initialize graphics system" I tried different things I read in the forums like going to device manager, display adapters, then disabling my NVIDIA graphics card, but that didn't work. So then I went to the Steam Library and right clicked on the game, went to properties, set launch options, and typed in -winxp but that didn't work either. I just kind of got lucky and fixed it on my own by looking through everything the properties showed me.

I should also mention I too am on Windows 10, and that I have the triple thrill pack. So I'm not too sure if Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 would be able to solve it the same way I did, but it's worth a try.

So I gave it another shot today and I actually got it to work. I followed these steps again and last time I used Windows XP instead of Windows 98 and that did the trick for me.

Try This:

What you need to do is find the game exe and open properties and go to the compatibility tab. On this set the operating system to Windows 95 or Windows 98, check Disable Visual Themes, Disable desktop composition and check Run as this program as Administrator and click ok.

Another way to fix it is by downloading OpenRCT2 (Google it, it's totally safe and legal). It's a project (mod I suppose?) that fixes most of RCT2s bugs and errors (including Steam's RCT2's launching bugs and errors). It's getting regularly updated as well.

I think you Renamed the folder in Program Files (x86). That happened to me yesterday.
