RollerCoaster Tycoon 2: Triple Thrill Pack

RollerCoaster Tycoon 2: Triple Thrill Pack

Can't open or save levels
I'm running Windows 7 64 bit and I can only get the game to run in Compatability mode set to Windows 95 or Windows 98. However, when I click on the load menu on the main game screen or choose to save the game inside of a level, the sound file plays and nothing happens. I've seen some suggestions to run the game in Windows XP compatability mode, but I cannot get the game to even start in Windows XP compatability mode... Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I was hesitant at first to get this game after reading all of the threads on people not being able to load the game or save it at all.

I have windows 7 and havent had a single problem with the game,

All the graphics load fine. I can save my game and load the saves back up without an issue. The game loads up without issue also.

sorry for bumping the thread, but did anyone find a solution?

Yes, user Sweendawg found a solution that worked for me:

"RCT2 Windows 7 64 bit Solution
Ok, So here is what I did:

Right Click on "Computer": Select "Properties", "Advanced System Settings", then under "performance", click on "settings", then click on the "data execution prevention" tab. Once you have done that select the "Turn on DEP for all programs except those I select" option. Then add your RCT2.exe file which is located in your steam/steamapps/rollercoaster tycoon 2 folder.

After that's been added, all I had to do was change compatability mode to Windows XP Service Pack 2, disable desktop composistion, and run program as admin and it worked!

Hope that helps all of you that are struggling!"

Thank you so much for posting this! I had to run with Windows 98 compatability and it prevented me from saving. With this fix, I don't need any compatability settings enabled! Makes me wonder if all the people saying the game works fine for them "out of the box" have DEP disabled.

No problem, glad I could help. Credit goes to the original poster - who knows how long he/she spent trying to figure it out too! Enjoy the game!
