RollerCoaster Tycoon 2: Triple Thrill Pack

RollerCoaster Tycoon 2: Triple Thrill Pack

Why I prefer (open)RCT2 over Parkitect
I played all scenarios of Parkitect (base game) and have around 90 hours poured into it, but I always come back to RCT2... why tho.

Somehow RCT2 feels more "clean", not the paths, they are littered with puke, rather the aesthetics. I have a better overview of what is going on, and can decide which things to build next.

While Parkitects coasterbuilder is of course less bulky and more modern than RCT2s, I like building in RCT2 more, due to 2 things. it is simpler in my opinion, and it is easier to build thirilling rides for rollercoaster enthusiasts. You can have a intensitiy 4+ rollercoaster with the most basic junior coaster layout (a simple oval), which will cater to near to all guests (intensitiy till 4 and starting at 4 alike). You can also build nice very high intensitiy coasters with "normal" means, sure you can do it in parkitect, too. But my 6+ second airtime junior coaster in parkitect has a "low" intensity. You can "cheat" by building hard turns or hard brakes, but that kills the immersion for me.
Sure you can just spam a looping coaster with 3 parts to get a lot of guests into the park, or raise your park value with super intense (20+) rides, which you keep in testmode, but you don't need it. Building fair rollercoasters with high intensity in parkitect is harder than it should be (in my opinion, yours can vary of course).
The simpler staff management also contributes in my liking of RCT2. No need to check for resupplying far away stalls, which usually get filled while the park is closed in RL. A everopen of course can't do it, but then breaks or resupplying doesn't fit in.
I like the different "bonuses/events" parkitect offers, that could be something I would enjoy in RCT2 as well.

Well all in all I gonna go back to RCT2. Parkitect is a great game, I admit it, but somehow, I like RCT2 more.

Parkitect is great but RCT2 is a masterpiece of design. Hard to top that.

Mostly the lag as the park expands. Not as bad in RCT2 and there's also the "density" factor that affects all 3d modern versions of isometric games. Another example is Skylines. Even when you have a highly populated city by Skyline standards it just doesn't feel and look the same as a SimCity 4 densely populated city.
