IS there a sandbox mode?
Just got this game, seems the only option is challenges.

RCT3 has sandbox mode, but RCT2 does not.

It's quite easy to create your own sandbox park by making a custom "scenario". Just create the landscape, choose the objects and rides, then tick the "No Money" box and you're good to go!

you can build one yourself, but honestly just run openrct2. it gives u all of the bells and whistles during gameplay. OH AND RENDERS THE GAME IN CURRENT MONITOR RESOLUTIONS

also i forgot to mention that openrct2 has a couple options to override the settings that u want for true sandbox like disabling currency

Sweet! Thanks. I'll look into that. I was just looking to see if you can get a better resolution. \o/

...awww, it says "Please bear in mind OpenRCT2 is in early beta stage. Crashes and bugs are common." So, that doesn't sound like a great option. Or have they just not updated the site?

It doesn't really crash any more, only if you're going to remove restrictions in the cheats menu it can crash sometimes.

It's much more stable and crash free than vanilla.
