Buy Here or GoG?

Just wondering if I wouldn't have any added complications downloading the player made mod OpenRCT2 using the Steam version?

Just seems like it may be more simple to buy and download from somewhere like GoG instead, any clarification from someone who may have installed OpenRCT2 using the Steam version?

Only asking because I generally prefer handling all my owned games through Steam, less juggling around with different launchers or sites to get where I want to go.

A bit of research I did a while ago (I don't have the game on Steam, so don't take my words at 100%) it shouldn't cause problems. OpenRCT2 requires only the assets files from the game. Any copy should suffice.

I have the game on steam, and it's as easy as GOG I think. Just install RCT2 and Open RCT2 somewhere, with the installation of Open RCT2 you point to the steam folder and get a new shortcut.

And it all works out of the box.

I have GoG version and it works perfectly, linked both 1 & 2 both into OpenRCT2 to get all assets

Same here... all well playing the RCT2 with Steam RollerCoaster 2
