Pre-built Rides

The rides that are already in the game, dont have names except for the first premade ride. It keeps giving me random numbers and letters for the other name. How do i fix this, I am running windows vista.

that's no problem, it's just some pre-made coasters the devs that brought the classic game to Steam made

I am comparing it to the disk version and its seems to be a problem, I feel the devs should name the coasters and update it on steam, cause its hard to choose one of the premades and have knowledge of where it is in the menu.

I do agree there. There is actually a way to do it but it would be a complete pain to do so and should have been done by the devs. Basically, in a game, make note on a sepearate sheet/doc what name you would give to each track. Then, in the tracks folder (steamapps->common->the game->Tracks) you will find all the tracks. you can change the filenames and that should change the track names.

Thank You. I will have to do this, since the dev didn't. I am willing to drop the folder with the updated names if you would like but it will take me a week. I will not start unless asked.

Random numbers or random names, I see little difference. But if you're willing to go through the work to make the game experience better for yourself, all the power to yah.

Besides, the real fun is making your own rides, right? :)

This game is amazing I am just really disappointed in the port of RCT 2 and why there are missing levels even in the full expansion version of the game. RCT 3 was alright and I have yet to get RCT World.

I just tried and steam automatically detected the change and re-downloaded the game files for it sadly :/ so it is not possible to change the names without steam noticing.

I'm with Mu, random number or random names, it doesn't really matter to me. Having said that, I was gonna suggest disabling automatic updates for the game, and then write instructions on how to do that in case anyone doesn't know how. But it seems it doesn't work as I thought it did, as it seems you can't actually disable them. I could swear I've disabled them for other games in the past though. Thinking on it more, I probably just set the option for "Only update this game when I launch it", or something to that effect. Since it was a game I got in a bundle but never played, I saw no reason for it to be updated.

I'm curious though, what if you run the game from its .exe instead of from Steam itself. Perhaps that would bypass the updating? Worth a shot. Perhaps there's something you can do with Set Launch Options.

Maybe.... Just that most ppl won't care to do this I think the smarter option is to notify steam of this and try to get some support for this.
