Is there a kindof freeplay?
like, you still have money and stuff but no objective, idk. having it be like "Nah you failed, might as well stop" is kinda a bummer. even if you dont have to stop

Yes, I know there is at least one park like that but you have to beat all the levels in the original Roller Coaster Tycoon to unlock it. I think there is one for each of the expansion packs too.

the park is called megapark. you can hit the objectives really easily and use a trainer too to adjust land and such

RCT3 has a dedicated sandbox mode, if you are interested.

Well if you're not interested in the goal you can always pick any level you like and just casually play, I always end up with TONS of money left over at the end of year 1 :S (I charge entrance and ride fees haha)

i personally find a lot of use with the original scenarios, leafy lake forest frontiers, dynamite dunes, and diamond heights, diamond heights because of the twin coasters

whether u hit the objective or not is pretty irrelevant unless u r aiming to unlck all the levels, at which point i just use a trainer for that

werent there trainers for the original rct that did exactly this? in any case there is a map you can DL with nearly unlimited money.

trainers for rct 1 yes. my personal favorite was the crt 1 CES trainer

honsetly at this point. i just hate the fact that the original scenarios dont exist for rct 2. RCT2 is better simply because the OPENRCT2 integrates trainer functions with scenario editor options with the in game.

the only point to RCT2 for me right now is MP but I dislike 2 in general
