Finished the game with zero changes in my deck.
Step 1: Build deck. Contents may vary as the final deck is approached. Sometimes a soul or mana orb is useful if you are lacking parts of the econ.

4x Scapegoat
4x Cultist
4x Sorcerer
2x Wizard
2x Battle Horn
1x Sacrificial Dagger

Step 2. Play deck. Win.

The scapegoats and cultists form the core of your soul economy and melee force. Cultists grant 4 souls on sacrificing a scapegoat then go on to be 8 power attackers that can hit nightmares. They can be played in any of the first three zones, giving them immense versatility. The delay from needing to sacrifice a unit is hardly a problem. Even if a scapegoat is not immediately at hand, you can drop a cultist in a zone with a badly wounded unit to effectively trade it for a powered up cultist and some souls. In a pinch, a spare scapegoat can delay an enemy for next to no cost and still feed your econ.

The sorcerers are your mana producers. They cost 2 souls each but you will have souls in abundance due to the cultist + scapegoat combo described above. Their ability to be placed in zone 1 is great for survivability. Despite only having 1 power, they die far less often than apprentices who must be placed in zone 2.

The wizards are your artillery, whose main role is clearing enemies out of the forward zones so that your powered up cultists can advance toward the enemy unimpeded. I usually used the battle horn to push them into zone 2 so they could hit the newly arrived enemies as well.

The sacrificial dagger is just handy for soul econ. You will have plenty of moments when you have spare scapegoats and all your cultists are already in play and empowered.

The only times I had to change this deck was in the last act, to include the final quest cards. Not a single challenge required altering my deck. A few necessitated playing it a little differently, but it was sufficient nonetheless.

Notably, this strategy falls apart if you have unlocked more than is absolutely necessary to acquire the listed cards, as it dilutes rewards and shops.

Perhaps the game needs some variety.

Bud, can you copy this and post it into the guide portion of the community hub? I know formatting it might be a little annoying, but if you go lazy with it...it can be relatively painless.

Thank you for sharing.

Eh, it wants me to add an image. I might do that later.
