Eagle statue does nothing

I select a destination on the map, click 'accept' and then the only option I have is to reset or to exit. Where are the eagles??

Have you finished the first movie in a story mode? After the eagles rescue you those eagle-statues will be enabled.

Yes. I mean if the statues weren't enabled I wouldn't even have the option of pressing B in front of them, would I?

Are you forced to travel from one eagle statue to another or can you select other destinations?

No, you have to travel to another eagle statue.
