Is there any way to make the mine cart move faster?
At the mithril brick near moria the a dwarf you help twice and then race his mine cart one last time. Well, I completed that race several times doing perfect runs only jumping the cart at the correct time but it still is 2 seconds too late every single time I do that race. I've tried jumping the cart more but that just slows me down is there anything I can do to fix this? Or am I just doomed to never complete 100%? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

try reducing all 'effects' to off or low, that made things a bit faster for me.

Thanks I'll try that. I don't know if it will work since I recently figured out that the problem was the time not resetting when I would hit the rings. But I will still try your suggestion because if it works anything is better than having to uninstall/reinstall the game. And even if it doesn't work, Thank You for taking the time to reply, I really do appreciate it!

I have the same problem at first I only came to the half round after I reduced the all effects I nearly got the hole round, but its not enough, I can´t reduce more.
The time is to short.

The second minecart race is my last mithril brick. All effects are reduced, but I cannot complete the race. It appears as though one of the rings is not adding to the overall time. Could the patch have introduced this bug?

The second race has been stumping me until now. I finally got the cart to speed up (but have been unable to reproduce the same on replays). I got fed up and just changed all the video (with ALL the effects previously changed to off and low) settings to all sorts at each try. Finally on 800x600,59Hz,vsync off, aspect 16:9,tx qual low, bright 50, I managed to get 8 seconds instead of 6 on the first two hoops, 6 seconds instead of 4 on the third, then 4 secs on the next two, then 3, then 2. This all led to a fail on the first lap but it got me past the first hoop point before the reset kicked in. On the subsequent lap I was getting 10 secs + and was shooting round faster than ever. As this is one of the most infuriating races I've ever done I suggest you check out the youtube video (the only one I could find, but which didn't seem to run into the same prob) by CptAylott, and note down the jumps for the two laps you have to complete as some come up quite fast. Hope this helps, as I say I've not been able to repeat this yet just to prove it's not a fluke. But at last it allowed me to get the last few %. Good Luck.

I have exactly the same issue and even when lowering the settings, I cannot complete the race.
Did anyone find a solution for that?
Thanks

I usually find reducing things to 1040x768 and 4:3 aspect ratio allows me to do all of the games with a few extra seconds compared to what I get at my preferred settings.

I reduced all the effects and I actually got to the end in the last second so thanks :)

Just thought i would add my experience. I was having lots of trouble and even after reading suggestions on here and reducing graphics and effects to minimum could not get it. I finally tried turning all cheats off and destroying all items in the room thinking perhaps they created lag. It finally worked after that. Because I changed two variables I am not sure which did it but to anyone having trouble I would suggest trying those two things as well.

Thank you for the tip. Unfortunately, it didn't change anything in my case and I cannot finish the race in time.

Pff it's a joke.
all settings on low + all object destroyed = more time
But why?

The tip of reducing/shutting off effects saved my day, thanks guys.

If anyone is still wondering how to do this because of the recent Lego Hobbit giveaway, just turn off all of your extras, effects to minimum, resolution to 800x600, 56Hz, VSync off and, if you need, aspect ratio 4:3. Be sure to destroy all objects on the room, including ores and mithril (shiny iron) statues, and have an easy rendering character, like a custom one, not like Gandalf with his beard, cape and staff. If after all this you still can't, shut off all unnecessary apps through Task Manager if needed, including Google Chrome. If you still can't, just turn off the music. If you still can't, ask a friend with a better computer to get it for you or go to the library's computers.
