There are currently a few known issues that can cause start-up crashes. Fixes for these problems are being looked into, but we do know a few workarounds and solutions which can be used in the meantime.
1. Ensure your Steam Overlay is turned off using by unticking the top option in the "In-Game" tab of your Steam Settings. The developers have been communicating with Valve, the creators of Steam, for a while in order to try and work out why the overlay is causing issues for some players and not for others.
2. Update your graphics drivers to the most recent available version.
If you have an AMD/ATI graphics card, you can find the most recent driver version here: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download
If you have a Nvidia graphics card, you can find the most recent driver version here: http://www.nvidia.co.uk/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-uk
3. If you are still having issues, please send a detailed description of your problem to support@battleplan.com. If possible, please attach a screenshot of the problem to the email, as this may further help the developers take a closer look at what could potentially be causing your issue.
Hope this helps. Let me know if either of the first two options are able to fix your issue.
