Are the graphics updated?
They seem the same but I can't pinpoint whether that's just my brain with nostalgia goggles or if they're just porting it?

I will buy it. $19.99 is just an hour of work. :D

Didn’t the first trailer said something like carbon engine ??? I was expecting a remaster+ same game but new graphics.

This is not a port, this is an emulated version which I do not consider immediatelly a bad thing. You can take the isos and play this official version on Duckstation for example. That is not a bad idea.

it's really sad to not see the graphics or anything really enhanced and its just a emulation port i was super hyped for a remaster but hype took a hit when they announced $20 when i bought both 1 & 2 on ps3 awhile back for like $13 sadly feels like they are just nostalgia farming with minimal effort put in prob still get it on a sale though as i loved the games

Carbon Engine is just an emulator with added abilities, such as controller input, audio features, UI elements, data management and achievements/trophies. I expect people to mod this and get widescreen resolutions working, probably even 4k. We’ll see about framerate though.

I didn’t know that. Checken the trailer 1 year ago again and the wording Tomba is coming to Carbon engine meant for me like a really good remaster or Remake but I will still buy it anyway. It’s nice to have Tomba on Steam so we can play it on our Modern Windows Systems.

Most people probably thought the same thing. It's a bit misleading. I'm more a fan of Tomba 2, so I won't be buying this one. I'm looking forward to the Gex trilogy also.
This will still be good. Admittedly... I'll probably buy it on sale, because $30 AUD is a bit much for what this will offer.

Just out of pure nostalgia I need my childhood favourite game and my Steam profile to come together. :-)
The Carbon Engine isn't really an engine. It's just kind of like Retroarch in that it runs emulators with a consistent feature set. For what it's worth, Tomba lets you pick between resolutions up to 1080p and you can stretch it to 16:9 at least. But yeah, no different than another emulator save for the rewind feature.
