World War 2
I'd like to start off by saying that i really like this game. After 3 tries i finally make it to 1945 to lose everything unable to find a place to move my factories. eventually bankrupting in early 1945. My question to anyone is there a place to open a factory during this time or do I just watch my company lose it all? Is there a startagy for this? Totally awesome game thank you game Dev.
Thanks any help will be much appreciated.

There are a couple of neutral countries during WW2.

Sweden, Switzerland, and Spain off the top of my head are some of the bigger ones. South America enters the war really late, you lose maybe 6months or so I think.

Curious if you tried to do some military contracting during the war?

There are a couple ways you can go about it. What I typically do is trim off fat in the company. Remove all marketing, racing, and research budgets. I cut any cheaply made branches. And close any super expensive factories.

Then I focus on military contracts. Try to design generic engines that can fit most of the contract needs. It helps if you play in a large country as you'll get more contract requests. A few really good contracts could be enough to keep your company afloat.

If you don't mind managing employees, you can turn off auto hire, idle your branches, that will save in labor costs. You will have to assign employees however (in HR in the phone) anytime you assign a contract to a factory.

Yea, but then you have to run your company in Ireland... That didn't work out too well for DMC last I checked. :D

Ah yes.....but you look at that from the perspective of car sales....what about time machine sales....given that it is 2015 lol.

Oh, and the fact that they were not "made in Ireland" either. Classic Yankee mistake....lol!!!!!

Ireland was neutral in world war 2, as soon as the UK goes to war my Dublin factory shuts down! The only reason i built a factory in Dublin was to plan ahead for the war.

This is my first game on GearCity which seems soo close to the origional detriot game. Really enjoying it soo far, and has been great value for money. I have 12billion in the bank having sold all my shares in rival companies before war breaks out (as with wall street crash), perhaps slightly cheating to have knowledge of historical events?

You're right, I wonder how that got in there. Anyhoo I fixed it.

Contracts are the easiest way to survive the wars. WW2 see's alot of engine contracts for planes, tanks, and ships. the USA has alot of engine contracts that want 3-5k engines a month. You can easily end up makeing more then your normal profits in wartime.

im confused...
before WWII i had 11 well going cars on the market worldwide and over 300 millions in cash. then the war started and it was needed to close all branches and factorys except those in germany but nobody bought my cars there, i lost 4-8 millions every month during the war.
it was needed to shut down anything, then in 1946 i was overtaken by a company from detroit without warnings.
game over! that sucks :,(

In countries in total war all civilian production and sales stop. This means that in Germany, USA, UK, etc no car were produced or sold during WW2 (Just as in real life.) You have two choices playing during the war. Idle all factories and branches and wait it out. Or go into the contracting system and sign some military contracts for your HQ country (Germany.)

I always take contracts during the war. It does get you through the war, I have even tried moving to a neutral country but i find the contracts the best . love this game.

Build a Company in Andorra. It has 0% taxes and it is always a neutral country.
