Me: My main issue is that I play solo and I don't like to make the decisions for both teams.
Mark: I feel the same way as you do with respect to managing both teams!
Me: Could I run DD in board game companion mode and then use "ask the manager" every play to see what it wants my opposing team to do?
Mark: Yes! You can do that :). I do it all the time.
Me: Would DD be able to handle all the decision making for my opposing team?
Mark: Yes, it does a pretty good job of making choices.
Me: Are there any hurdles I'm overlooking to using Digital Diamond in the manner I'm describing?
Mark: There will always be times where you might second guess the computer manager’s decisions. Most of these moments will have to do with the pitcher usage. But keep in mind, the CM tries to ensure that all pitchers are getting the correct amount of playing time so their final playing time matches the playing time in real-life. Also, the CM recognizes when a bullpen is a bit short, and in that case it may have to let a pitcher pitch a little tired in order to be sure that he does not run out of pitchers early. In the end, you have the ability to override the CM if you really don’t like what the CM is recommending.
Me: Also, is it possible for me to add images of the player cards, Strat, Season Ticket, etc... so they get displayed in game as the players come to bat / pitch - maybe in that center area where the Statis Pro cards are displayed?
Mark: That is currently not possible.
Me: If the game I'm playing has rules for pitcher days rest needed, injuries or other things like that, am I able to enter that into DD?
Mark: That is also not possible. However, DDBB has a fatigue system for pitchers that relies on pitch count. When playing using the Boardgame Companion pitcher fatigue is being tracked by DDBB. You can ignore this if you like, but some folks like to use this fatigue indicator instead of the method used by the card game they are playing with. There is an item in the User Guide on Steam that explains how the fatigue system works in DDBB.
